BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) — China’s National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued a high temperature alert on Sunday, saying high temps are expected to hit several of the country’s southern regions over the next three days.
The center said that temperatures in the eastern part of Sichuan Basin, the municipality of Chongqing, and several areas south of the Yangtze River will see temperatures of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius over the next three days.
Some of these regions may experience temperatures as high as 38 to 39 degrees Celsius, the center said.
The center urged people living in these regions to refrain from outdoor activities during the early afternoon, when temperatures will reach their peak. The center also asked outdoor laborers to take precautions against the hot weather.
The center also said that heavy rains are expected to sweep the country’s northwestern regions, as well as several areas along the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, over the next three days.
