Defense Minister Liang Guanglie on Tuesday pledged to boost the country’s military ties with Britain.
Liang, who is also a state councilor, made the pledge during a meeting with Mark Stanhope, chief of the Naval Staff of Britain.
Liang recalled the sound development of bilateral military ties in recent years, including frequent visits by high-level officials, strategic consultations and cooperative training programs.
Liang also praised Sino-British relations in general, saying that fruitful cooperation had been achieved in economics, trade, education and culture.
“I hope that both sides will continue to promote the steady development of our comprehensive strategic partnership,” Liang said.
Stanhope said the British military hopes to deepen mutual understanding with China and continue to cooperate with the country in a variety of fields.
