Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has called for more efforts to consolidate economic development amid efforts to restructure the
economy.
Li made the remarks during an inspection tour on Monday and Tuesday in east China’s Anhui Province, saying “China’s economy is running steadily, even given the complicated environment both at home and abroad.”
To maintain steady and relatively fast economic development, efforts should be made to manage inflation expectations while promoting economic restructuring, Li said.
He also called for greater efforts to expand domestic demand and increase grain output and energy supplies to ease development strains.
China will definitely see increases in output of summer grain this year, but agricultural production cannot bear any slackness, he said during his inspection of rice production.
China has large potential to modernize its agricultural production and more efforts should be made to achieve full-year harvests to lay a solid foundation for stable economic development, he said.
Li also ordered efforts to ensure supplies of daily necessities to stabilize prices while increasing production and reducing circulation costs, during his a visit to a farm-produce market.
Further, when visiting a workshop, he called on enterprises to step up innovation and develop strategic new industries to boost development.
In his inspection at a construction site of public renting projects, he stressed the importance of low-income housing, which, he said, is conducive to the healthy development of the country’s property market.
He asked local governments to increase investment and collect funds from various channels to ensure the 10 million units of low-income housing for this year are started on schedule.
He also ordered open, fair and just allocation of these houses.
