BEIJING – Two people found dead in Beijing Sunday night are suspected to have been killed by thunder strike, as the heaviest rainstorm of the year pounded Beijing from Sunday through Monday morning.
The northern suburban district of Miyun recorded the biggest precipitation of 243 millimeters in 22 hours by 6 am Monday, said Wei Jianmin, chief forecaster of the Beijing Observatory, Monday.
The heavy rain affected many flights at the Beijing Capital International Airport.
