If I were to start this article in any different fashion, I would get angry emails claiming “but in our country is the same!” It doesn’t matter, a crime is a crime, and cannot be sanctioned by its taking place elsewhere or by its being perpetrated by government officials. A policeman must respect the law; he cannot break it in order to enforce it. Veteran readers of this website could claim, “You already reported on the rape of Jewish girls by Israel Police, what can be worse?” This claim is legitimate; yet, incredibly, this paragon of state-crimes didn’t stop there.
File 11070-10-10
On February 13, 2013, the Court of Nazareth provided an unforgettable event after Judge George Azulay issued the verdict on File 11070-10-10. The case deals with a man who was requested by a police squad-car to stop in order to pass an alcohol test. The event ended badly. The man was arrested and accused with assault of policemen trying to fulfill their task, insulting of a civil servant, blocking a policeman in his duty, and the destruction of public goods.
Several policemen provided testimony of this monstrous attack on the State of Israel. The chance of the man being found innocent were infinitesimal; Israeli courts invariably favor testimony of State workers (this is unacceptable, these people get salaries from the State and thus are interested parties).
Yet, the man, whose identity is now protected, was found innocent. The State-prosecutor was caught on the Court security cameras giving the policemen the file. This was enough to render the process illegal. Yet, the policemen, after reading with interest the thick file of lies, coordinated their testimonies while still in front of the camera.
The defendant attorney waited patiently while the police conducted its criminal charade, and when his turn arrived, he requested to show the Court’s security cameras as evidence. In his verdict, the judge claimed, “I have no choice but accept the defendant attorney’s claim that the policemen testimony cannot be trusted…”
A further investigation disclosed that the defendant had just asked questions regarding the policemen authority to harass him; the policemen answer was a decision to “teach him a lesson.” Sadly, the criminal policemen are still free, beware while visiting Israel.

On July 10, 2012, the Jerusalem District Court absolved former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of the majority of the corruption charges brought against him. These had caused his impeachment in 2008. He was charged with fraud, breach of trust, falsifying corporate records, tax evasion and receiving illicit benefits in the cases known as the Talansky Affair and the Rishon Tours Double Billing Scandal. He was acquitted of everything except for breach of trust in the Investment Center case.
Police may harass a regular citizen and get away with it; doing the same to the prime minister is more difficult. Since their fiasco, the false accusation is under investigation. The picture disclosed in Court is troubling. The State hired known criminals to entrap the Prime Minister in illegitimate real estate deals.
The criminals were used as underground agents and as State-witnesses, who got State protection for any crime they committed during the entrapment operation. The State revealed in Court that this has become its main mean of “proving crimes;” of course, the only crimes committed under such conditions are by the State.
Criminals appearing in court mentioned an “information tax” imposed by the police. If they bring information on crimes committed by larger criminals, their crimes are ignored; they call it also “insurance document.” It assures that if caught, they would be protected as underground agents of the police.
Attorney Yaakov Suderi reported these findings in a long article that appeared in Haaretz on February 28. Police activity and claims have been rendered as nothing but criminal acts. In the case of Prime Minister Olmert, this was probably an attempt of the Secret Police, the Shin Beth, to block his peace initiative with the Palestinians, which had almost crossed the threshold to a permanent peace agreement. The State of Israel favors war; Yitzhak Rabin and Ariel Sharon paid dear in similar circumstances.

On the last day of February 2013, a public letter written by the Police Affairs Journalists was sent to the Israel Police General Headquarters and its Intelligence Directorate, and was published by Channel 7, which disclosed also the names of the journalists signing it. These work for all major Hebrew media outlets, including the Army Radio, all main newspapers, and the largest websites.
In the Israeli context, this is a dramatic move, especially considering the content of the letter. The journalists complained in it about the censorship systematically imposed by the police through court orders that ban the mentioning by the media of sensitive affairs. These refer mainly to events presenting the police as corrupt or ineffective.
The abovementioned cases were too difficult to hide, but, according to this impressive list of journalists, censorship is the norm in Israel. The letter stated that the journalists had decided to censor the Israel Police 2012 Report.
In a humorous touch, the Police reaction showed that maybe they are not good policemen, but they are extraordinary clowns. Israel Police Spokesman said, “Yesterday, after they were invited to the yearly summary event of the Tel Aviv District, when the Police Commissioner was getting ready to speak, the journalists left the room while purposely disturbing public order…”
