An envoy of Libyan leader, Moummar Gaddafi, has met with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou in Athens.
Libya’s acting Foreign Minister, Abdul-Ati al-Obeidi, delivered a message from his country’s embattled leader, saying Libya wants to end fighting in the country.
The Greek Foreign Minister commented on the meeting, saying the Libyan government is working to seek a solution to the current conflict. Obeidi will also travel to Malta and Turkey.
Dimitris Droutsas, Greek Foreign Minister, said, “From what the Libyan envoy told us, it looks like the Libyan regime is seeking a solution. There is a need for a serious effort for peace and stability in the region. Greece will continue towards this effort, offering its services, and we are in contact with all our allies and partners. We will update them on our meeting today and on Greece’s thoughts and proposals.”
