The China Pavilion has attracted some 880,000 tourists since it reopened again on July 12, receiving roughly 34,000 daily visitors, said Pang Jie, general manager of the Expo Shanghai Group, Thursday.
She added that after the pavilion closes for good on October 9, it will be used for charity and public welfare events in the future.
Development plans for the six remaining foreign pavilions that will be kept at the park, meanwhile, are still under discussion, she said.
But before those decisions are made, visitors will get a chance to tour the Saudi Arabia Pavilion for about 60 yuan ($9) per person in the fall; the Italy Pavilion and the Luxembourg Pavilion will also reopen to the public before officially retiring from the Expo.
