According to the Global Times, South Korea is quite worried China’s Bohai Bay oil spill accident.the South Korean government said on July 12 it has taken the initiative to convene the two countries to hold an environmental conference to discuss cooperation to control the oil pollution.
Due to the absence of the relevant treaty for the Chinese government to inform the Republic of Korea about the oil spill incident, the Chinese government has not informed the South Korea the specific places of oil leaking.
South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman ZHAO Bing-Ti said on July 12 that China and South Korea scheduled to hold the Joint Committee meeting on the environment this year, but due to the China’s Bohai Bay oil spill accident, South Korea is proposing to bring forward the meeting to discuss oil pollution prevention programs. ZHAO Bing-Ti said the South Korean government has asked the Chinese government to provide more specific information on the incident.
