South Korean Election Fraud Protests Spread Abroad to the USA

CNN PRODUCER NOTE : Oglim has been very interested in the protests in South Korea and elsewhere over what those protesting believe to be voter fraud in the elections in late 2012 (CNN cannot verify these claims). ‘There were about 45 to 50 people from many different cities of the States who gathered in Harvard Square to protest against the election fraud in South Korea Sunday. It was a peaceful protest, but it definitely conveyed strong wishes of the protesters for democracy and justice in South Korea. I did not expect in the beginning to see so many people coming from all different parts of the country to join us. Some drove 16 hours and some flew from Los Angeles to be there. Some came with their children. They did that because they all knew this was a serious matter.’

South Korean Election Fraud Protests Spread Abroad to the USA

*********************

On the afternoon of Sunday, August 4, 2013 approximately 50 people, mostly Korean-Americans, gathered on Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Some were holding Korean flags and some were holding banners that said “Impeach Park for Election Fraud,” or “The Second Coup d’État by the Park Family.”

They were there to protest against the South Korean intelligence agency’s intervention in the presidential election from last December.

Some people who joined in the protest came from Connecticut, New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, CA, and Indianapolis, IN.

They may have come from many different areas of the country, but they all had one message they wanted to get across, “the winner of the 2012 election was illegally aided by the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the results are therefore fraudulent and should be considered invalid.”

Since the results of presidential election from December 19, 2012 were announced there have been numerous candle-light vigils and protests throughout South Korea by many citizens who believe that the election was fraudulent.

The Director of the NIS has been indicted by the prosecution for ordering his agency to perform illegal election campaigning after a few-month long investigation.

But still, there have been major struggles towards exposing the truth due to the ruling party’s control over the South Korean government and the media.

Many South Koreans have been gathering on the streets almost daily for the past few months.

They have demanded that the National Assembly do a thorough parliamentary investigation into the NIS’ intervention in the election and that President Park take responsibility for the crimes related to the election fraud if proven.

There were more than 30,000 people protesting in Seoul on August 3, 2013. Protests go on day by day and week by week throughout South Korea and now in the United States as well.

There were protests in Los Angeles, CA on June 29, 2013, New York City on July 16, 2013 in front of the South Korean General Consulate, on July 20, 2013 in Times Square, in Dallas, TX on July 21, 2013, and in Atlanta, GA on July 27, 2013.

On August 10, 2013 there will be the largest protest so far in Seoul, South Korea. An estimated 100,000 protesters are expected to attend.

Many conscientious citizens from various civic groups participated in this protest held in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The protest was hosted by an activist group named ‘Citizens Fighting for Social Justice’
