For much of the Biden administration…the US prided itself on leading the diplomatic isolation of Moscow. Enter the self-proclaimed ultimate deal-maker Donald Trump. After more than a thousand days of war, the White House has gone from viewing Vladimir Putin as a potential war criminal to a trusted counterpart.

The tone in Russia has changed too. As ceasefire talks continue, the refrain “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine” echoes time and time again. But as US backing appears to waver, it’s uncertain if Europe is united, or strong enough, to fill that power void.

Show guests: Professor Sergey Karaganov – Russian strategist, Honorary Chairman of the Center for Council for Foreign and Defense Policy and adviser to President Vladimir Putin. Prof John Mearsheimer – American political scientist and international relations scholar from the University of Chicago
