This comes as no surprise to anyone. The oldest trick in the book is to set red lines and then have your Intel operatives set up an operation to frame your selected target to trigger the desired intervention.
The Israelis have been doing this since before their state was born.
And America has a long history of it, including when Operation Gladio went bad and Cold War trained operatives in Italy co-opted those assets to use in terror attacks on their own people and them blame the communist.
I do not believe there was ever a conviction as Italian law enforcement was involved up to there eyeballs.
After the 911 NeoCon coup a rushed Intel contracting operation began to publicly fund what was to be their private Intel and Special operations army. The accounting was so lax, all the theft and misappropriation hidden behind secrecy classifications we are left with dreaming of an investigation.

She later escaped being murdered and framed with a subsequent attack to discredit any stashed aways goodies she might have had to defend herself.
My best bet here is the Al Nusra folks were either going to use the Sarin on the FSA and take some of the bad press heat off themselves and possibly trigger invention to stop the steady advances the Assad government is making with the Russian stepping in more due to the blunders of the Israeli attacks.

The sarin gas was found in the homes of suspected Syrian Islamists detained in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersia following a search by Turkish police on Wednesday, reports say. The gas was allegedly going to be used to carry out an attack in the southern Turkish city of Adana.
On Monday, Turkish special anti-terror forces arrested 12 suspected members of the Al-Nusra Front, the Al-Qaeda affiliated group which has been dubbed “the most aggressive and successful arm” of the Syrian rebels. The group was designated a terrorist organization by the United States in December.
Police also reportedly found a cache of weapons, documents and digital data which will be reviewed by police.
Following the searches, five of those detained were released following medical examinations at the Forensic Medicine Institution Adana. Seven suspects remain in custody. Turkish authorities are yet to comment on the arrests.
